Sponsor a Parrot That Needs a Bit Extra From Us!
|
Would you like to help a bird, but aren't in a position to adopt one right now? Consider sponsoring care for an adoptable parrot, many who are at The Landing awaiting their next home. Here are a few stories. A $50 donation covers food, enrichment, cleaning supplies and more for a parrot at the adoption center for one month.
Choose the bird you'd like to sponsor from the list below. Then send us an email at [email protected] to let us know how you'd like to be acknowledged on this page, or if you would prefer to remain anonymous. Thanks for helping parrots! |

Bertie
Bertie is a 29 year old female blue and gold macaw. It was hard to get her started, but she plows through lots of great fruits and veggies now! She loves to spend time on top of the refrigerator snacking, while supervising breakfast preparations. She does a good job of that! |
Quakers in the Outdoor Aviary
Four male quaker parakeets live all year in an outdoor aviary at The Landing, our only permanent residents. They don't mind the weather - snow, rain, or shine. The two pairs spend all day "conferencing" with each other. We wish we could speak Quaker so we knew what all the buzz is about! They thank JULIE AND VINNIE NOTO for sponsoring their monthly care. |
Andy
Andy is a young 33 year old sulphur crested cockatoo. We're not sure what he goes through more of - wood or food! He is constantly on the move.... eating, chewing, playing, eating, chewing, playing! His favorite words are "Popcorn!" and "Cracker, cracker!" He will also ask "How are you?" It's a ruse, he's hoping someone will finally give him a cracker or popcorn, ha! |

Soji
Male cockatoos seem to have long stays at The Landing, homes are hard to find for busy, boisterous, and unpredictable males. Soji is a 25 year old sulphur-crested cockatoo. He would eat the whole building if we let him. A few needed repairs have his name on them! Thanks to DEVON SNODGRASS for sponsoring his care!! |
Blaze
Blaze is a 15 year old sun conure. He was sent to a vet office to be euthanized for being "aggressive." He's actually quite charming. But it urns out that he is diabetic, our first bird with this diagnosis. His glucose has come way down but he's on lifetime meds and susceptible to seizures. We hope an adopter will find him as adorable as we do. |
Tiki and Chico
Respectively 23 and 34+, these two Amazons came from different places but were adopted by the same family and became friends. They are both male, so that can be a challenge, but 2 bonded males are even hard to find a home for, but we believe there is eventually a home for all birds (or pairs!). |
|
Quork
Quork and Betsy came to us years ago from a breeder gone awry situation. It was an emergency of large proportions. He and Betsy was adopted for 10 years before returning to us |
Betsy
We don't know Quork or Betsy's ages, but they decided that they wanted to spend life together. For now they have space, good food, and freedom to be themselves. We hope they'll find the right next home when the time is right. |
Coco
Coco is a 38 year old male blue and gold macaw. He came from a very large indoor/outdoor aviary setup, and being confined to a cage is not his preferred way of life! He is hoping for something bigger in his future! |
|
Lucky
31 year old Lucky has lost his home several times across the years because he is very expressive. Or do we mean LOUD? Yes!! cockatoos can be that way, especially if it has been reinforced. Thanks to GARY HUTCHINSON for sponsoring Lucky's care! |
Houdini
I have a man crush on Lucky, and we're best buddies. Since we don't have an adopting home yet, we live in an outdoor aviary at The Landing. In the winter, our TN friends give us a temp home so our feet don't freeze! I came from a shelter, so age unknown, but possibly wild caught. |
|
Buddha
Buddha is a wild caught Congo African grey. He is at least 41 years old, but seems to get younger by the day because he stays very busy, eats a robust amount of wholesome veggies, fruits, Nutri-berries and Harrison's pellets. He's grown his tail back and keeps most of his chest feathers now. He's quite the delight! Older birds are well worth the relationships we forge with them. So we know a good home is in his future! |
Alexander
Alexander came to us from a Virginia shelter, so we don't know much about his age or background. Male Moluccan cockatoos can be hard to rehome because this species can be very loud. Males are a bit more challenging and best more hands-off. But Alexander has an amazing vocabulary with a super sweet voice. He's really into lots of enrichment (get the wood saw ready!) and has become one of the best eaters of a wide diversity of wholesome foods. He's also growing his feathers back - space, busy activities, and good food can do that! |
Puffin
Puffin is a 38 year old Goffins cockatoo. Like many birds, especially cockatoos, he has some feather challenges. Upon occasion he needs a collar to ensure he does not hurt himself. He's been in foster since 2021, and we've incurred substantial vet bills. But sometimes that's just what we have to do! He deserves the opportunity for a good life as much as any other, wouldn't you agree? |
