Ever wonder what parrots do all day in the wild? Phoenix Landing invites you to explore the Parrots of Panama. An exciting yet low impact 14 night / 15 day adventure where we will experience a wide variety different species of parrots in the wild. From the smaller conures to the largest and most large great green, scarlet, and greenwing macaws you'll be able to observe wild parrots up close and marvel at their beauty, ingenuity, and social dynamics. If you ever wondered why your parrot was acting a certain way, come to see them in the wild and understand why first-hand!

January 24 - 25
Panama City​

Arrive on the 24th and we will spend the day on the 25th exploring the city. Panama City is an incredible destination where a modern skyline meets rich colonial history and dense tropical rainforests. ​Highlights of our day there will include a walking tour of the historic part of Panama City and a visit to the Miraflores Visitor Center at the Panama Canal. At the Miraflores Visitor Center, you can stand on the observation decks to watch massive container ships glide through the locks with just inches to spare. The site features an interactive museum and a detailed IMAX theater experience narrated by Morgan Freeman that explains the history and immense global impact of the canal.

​January 26 - 28
Gamboa Rainforest Reserve

Panama City where the Chagres River meets the Panama Canal, Gamboa is a world-renowned hotspot for biodiversity, eco-tourism, and tropical research. It serves as the ultimate base camp for experiencing the Panamanian rainforest up close. On the first day in the area, we will visit the famous Pipeline Road, which is known for the tremendous number of bird species present in the area. Even though it is a small country, Panama is home to over 1,000 species of birds. On the second day, we will do an adventure tour at Gamboa, which includes an aerial tram ride, a visit to an observation tower for wildlife viewing, a visit to a sloth and wildlife rescue center and a boat tour of the area surrounding the Panama Canal. (Meals Included: BLD)

January 28 - February 1
​Azuero Peninsula

Here we will spend 4 nights exploring the area both by land and by sea.   Highlights of this area include a visit to Cerro Hoya National Park and a boat trip to Coiba Island for exploring and snorkeling. Parrots which live in this area are Great Green Macaws, Scarlet Macaws, Brown Hooded Parrots, Amazons (Red Lored, Mealy and Yellow Crowned), Blue Headed Pionus and Orange Chinned Parakeets. The trip to Coiba is an overnight trip, and we will spend one night in a small fishing village. The other 3 nights will be spent in a small, charming B&B with beautiful gardens and grounds—here we will have the entire place to ourselves.

February 1 - 2
Panama City

Late on the 1st we will head back to Panama City for one short night. The next morning we are begin our journey to the Darien. ​(Dinner not Included)

Feburary 2 - 6
​Darien

Darien National Park is the most bio-diverse area of Panama, and the least populated. It is one of the best places in the world to see the Harpy Eagle, one of the largest and rarest eagles in the world. It is also home to five species of Macaws (Greenwing, Great Green, Chestnut Fronted, Blue and Gold, and Chestnut Fronted), Parrotlets (Blue fronted and Spectacled), Amazons (Mealy, Red Lored and Yellow Crowned), Brown Hooded Parrots, Orange Chinned Parakeets and the rare Saffron Headed Parrot. On our last night in the Darien, we will tent inside the national park for a more intimate experience in the nature surrounding us. (Meals Included: BLD except dinner on February 6th)

February 6 - 7
​Panama City

On the afternoon of the 6th we will make our way back to Panama City for one final night before departing for home the following day. ​(Meals not Included)
