Phoenix Landing
Community Volunteer Day

Saturday, August 30th
from 12:00pm-4:00pm

Phoenix Landing's home base is hosting an open community volunteer day! We are looking for volunteers who are willing and able to roll up their sleeves and help us with a variety of large outstanding projects at our on-site adoption center in Alexander, NC (just north of Asheville). This includes: preparing and setting up our greenhouse, to pressure washing and detail cleaning. This will be relatively laborious work and we definitely need a hand getting these projects done before cold weather sets in!
Register to join us here!

Some additional information:
Volunteers are asked to arrive by 12:00pm so we can introduce ourselves to everyone and assign teams to specific tasks. We will have a very short safety briefing, to include how to work around the birds for their safety and yours (like avoiding bites).

The tasks we need to accomplish include:
  • Cleaning and pressure washing cages, aviaries, sidewalks, etc.;
  • Painting and weatherproof staining;
  • Unfolding and prepping newspaper for bird cages;
  • Yard maintenance, weeding, edging; and
  • Building planter boxes for the greenhouse to help us grow more produce for the parrots year-round.

We can rotate assignments throughout the afternoon for anyone who prefers to be involved in a variety of projects. We truly appreciate your help and want everyone to enjoy their time with us!

We will have beverages and light snacks, but recommend you have lunch before coming. Please dress for yard work and sunscreen appropriately.

As one way of saying thank you, we will open our Helping Parrots store to volunteers for shopping at 4:00pm with a 20% discount.  Our store will also be open to the general public starting at 4:00pm on August 30th.

If you need work or school documentation for your volunteer time, please let Melissa know
. Her email is [email protected]

Our address is:
