Adoption Center Information

Phoenix Landing adoption center campus with mountains in the background
Phoenix Landing Foundation has one facility that serves as its headquarters, only adoption center, and our Helping Parrots store. It is located in the mountains of North Carolina, about a half hour outside of Asheville. Between 30 - 40 adoptable birds are at the adoption center at any given time. Many more than that (usually 100 or more) are in foster homes throughout the mid-Atlantic and Southeast. We prefer for birds go directly to a prospective adopting home.
History and overview
Phoenix Landing was founded in 2000, and the Phoenix Landing adoption center opened in 2010. In addition to having two buildings with adoptable birds, the Helping Parrots store is also on the same campus, in a building separate from the adoption center. The campus includes caretaker apartments so that, regardless of the weather, there are individuals on-site every day to care for the birds.
Appointments
The adoption center is currently open only by invitation and appointment, and restricted to qualifying, adopting families. Appointments are made for families who have completed the preliminary adoption steps to meet birds who may be a good fit for the family. Our adoption coordinators will work with adopting families to set up the appointment.
Store
We are happy to open our store upon request when someone has a scheduled appointment, and appreciate your support. An easy way to shop is via our online store at
helpingparrots.com. Proceeds from the volunteer-run Helping Parrots store benefit the parrots of Phoenix Landing.
